St Francis Class (Year 6)

Welcome!

Mission Statement

As St. Francis Class, we promise to live each day guided by the Gospel values. We will show kindness to one another, treating everyone with dignity and respect.  We will strive to be people of integrity, speaking the truth and acting with fairness.  We will forgive when mistakes are made and support each other, without argument, with compassion and hope.

We live out our faith by following Jesus' example, being peacemakers in our school and community, abiding by His golden rule (John 13:34-35).  We will work together for the common good, making sure everyone has the chance to take part and be included.  We will stand in solidarity with those in need and take care of God's creation through good stewardship.

As leaders of our school, we commit ourselves to be role models, showing resilience, responsibility and courage.  With God at the centre of all that we do, we will strive to make this year one of growth, joy and service.

Welcome back Year 6 team.

It is wonderful to welcome your children into Year 6 this term and I look forward to the privilege of teaching them. They have been settling back into school life really well and getting to grips with our classroom routines and expectations. Mrs. Law and I have also been very pleased with their positive attitudes towards their learning.

This term our topic will be a historical investigation of the Battle of Britain. We will be reading ‘Carrie’s War’ by Nina Bawden in English, to help bring this topic alive, using this base novel to support several writing outcomes including letter writing, diary writing, descriptive and persuasive writing.

In Maths, we will study place value and the four operations and in Science, we will focus on the theme of Light. We will investigate properties of light using scientific methodology.
